A relay in Banchuri Village which is about 140 kms from our Garhwal Office, functional since 2014 which served Ghansali and its surrounding areas needed some maintenance and upgrade work. This relay had lately become one of the main backbones – serving two networks – and additionally since it hosts five hotspot locations. Therefore, upgrading work was crucially necessary.
As expected it was an uphill task both literally and otherwise. What would normally take about 45 minutes ascend from the last motorable road took a good 3 and half hours. Despite getting help from the local mules, some of the cumbersome equipment and gears had to be schlepped by the team members. The team took shelter from the locals and spent the night there on the hilltop and continued with their work the next day.
Despite the hardwork, the team said “it was a satisfying collective team work of AirJaldi and the mules and the locals. This is rural connectivity.”
We live by our words. At AirJaldi our teams don’t just plug and leave. We believe that the internet opens a world of possibilities, which impact lives and livelihoods and in order to realize its great promise, a stable connectivity and attentive services are essential.
